One Awesome Night Cancelled for Christmas 2020
“One Awesome Night”, the event that transformed the Pugwash Farmers Market into the Town of Bethlehem, has been cancelled for this year because of COVID-19.
The December re-enactment of the nativity in the manger is the latest public gathering to fall victim to the public health rules.
One of the coordinators of what would have been the third annul presentation says it just isn’t worth the effort this year. Bert McWade says, “If we can’t gather and enjoy the closeness, it just defeats the purpose.”
One Awesome Night played to rave reviews and large crowds over the last two Christmas seasons. Last year expanded to add a large group of performers from Oxford who joined the Pugwash churches in staging the annual presentation.
It was growing into something extra special, not just with an audience that dressed in period costume to be part of the show, but growing as a significant uniting force for the area churches at a time when the true meaning of Christmas was being challenged.
McWade will be a guest on Six River Radio’s “Morning Talk” on Tuesday at 8:05 to talk about the event and its future.
