Mobile Networks Suffering Service Interruptions
Cellular telephone subscribers have been suffering intermittent outages and dropped calls over the last 48 hours.
Outages with Rogers Communications, Fido, Chatr, and Freedom Mobile are affecting customers on other networks as they try to call into the troubled companies. Bell, Telus, and Eastlink are unaffected within their own networks and with each other.
Some police departments noted that emergency calls, including some 9-1-1 services, have been affected at centres on the Rogers network. As a work-around customers are encouraged to use landlines on Bell service.
Text messages, internet, and data services are functioning on all networks, as usual. The intermittent interruptions are suffered on voice services only.
