Chase the Ace Comes to Pugwash

The Pugwash Legion will launch a chase the ace fundraiser beginning Saturday. The Peace Branch will operate the chase on the first and third Saturday of each month.

Ticket sales will open at 3 pm and close at 5, with the draw at 5:15. Players must be on hand for the draw, if not, the prize is added to the next draw date.

A spokesman for the legion says, "We have to raise some funds to keep the branch open."

Meanwhile, the Pugwash Fire Department has applied for a lottery licence to operate a community 50/50 draw. The firefighters hope to offer a weekly "Toonie" draw.

The 50/50 draw has been very helpful as a fundraiser for fire departments in Oxford, Springhill, and other areas. The Toonie Draw follows the success of the on-going fundraiser made popular by the Amherst Ramblers Junior Hockey Team.

The Pugwash Firefighters hope to launch their community draw by the end of October.
