Oxford Tribute to Class of 2020
Graduates of the Oxford Regional Education Centre (OREC) will walk the stage tonight without an audience, but last night the audience lined Main Street as the students paraded past.
It was a heartfelt community congratulation to the graduates, as they marched from the Parkview Restaurant to the community gazebo at Heritage Square.
Friends and family lined the route, where banners honouring each grad hung from the power poles along the town's main thoroughfare. Families tended to gather under the banner that honoured their daughter or son.
Although this wasn't an official school event, some school staff were on hand to recognize the fruits of their students' labour and wish them well as they move on in life.
Tonight is the official graduation at OREC where each graduate will receive a diploma in a more quiet ceremony. Coronavirus restrictions require there be no crowd, no family or friends on hand, just the graduates and some senior school staff.
However, the event will be streamed and recorded on You Tube.
