RCMP Alert Says Shooting Suspect Arrested
Police have arrested a man, without incident, as investigation of a shooting in New Brunswick raised fears in Amherst.
Mobile phones, TVs, and other devices rang out of the silence this morning with a broadcast alert across the emergency system.
Police were investigating a shooting incident last night in Riverview, NB. Reports suggest a shot was fired from a car in what may have been an attempted robbery near the Riverview High School.
RCMP have released few details and there is no word on any injury from the incident.
Emergency alerts were issue in the night for New Brunswick. They issued the Nova Scotia alert at 11:42 this morning after Amherst police found the suspect’s car, abandoned, just after 8:00 o’clock.
Police were looking for 24-year-old Jansen Bryan Baker, shown in the photo.
With last spring’s Portaupique shooting still fresh in memory, people were on edge from Moncton to Amherst. The alert, advising the suspect was arrested, was issued at 1:35 pm.
