Day 1 — Countdown to Launch

It is launch day for the new Maritime radio talk show Let’s Talk.

We will turn on the mic at 3:00 o’clock this afternoon, and ready or not, thousands of listeners across nine radio stations in three Canadian provinces will hear two men talk about the death of Christendom.

One is Mark Collins, the National Director of the Nazarene Church of Canada — the man who holds the opinion that North America is witnessing Christendom in its final days — and the other is Bill Martin, host of the program who will press Collins to defend his position while encouraging you to join the conversation.

Martin says, “We can talk about that belief, but it will not be a talk show if listeners don’t get involved.”

Six Rivers Radio produces the program and Inspire FM, with its network of eight radio stations, has joined the syndication. None of them want this show to be two men talking. It will be a success only if they can generate a community conversation.

The death of Christendom may be terribly misunderstood and some will, no doubt, take offence to the concept. However, Collins sees it as a good thing that will allow the Christian movement to return to its roots, to get back on track, and revive the revolution.

Guests are lined up for the next four weeks, ready to tackle subjects like artificial intelligence which author William Jefferson says “is digging wisdom’s grave.”

Meanwhile, Peter Demos wants to talk about civil disobedience — its importance and challenge for Christians who will find themselves marginalised and persecuted more and more in the days to come.

Other topics deal with the threat to the world thanks to our botched management of the delicate ecological balance of nature, otherwise known as our self-made climate crisis, not to mention numerous examples of how we have failed to follow the very rules of life.

Yes, we’ll have lift-off this afternoon at 3 pm, and yes Houston, we have a problem, but for every problem there is a solution and that is exactly what we want to talk about on Let’s Talk.

Join the conversation this afternoon, live, on any of the Inspire FM stations throughout the three Maritime provinces, or on the internet at the host station www.sixrivers.ca or www.hopecentre.ca.
