More Than One Way to Skin a Radio

A temporary outage on the servers for Six Rivers News caused an unexpected problem for Six Rivers Radio yesterday.

The outage, in Southern Ontario, took the news site off-line, but for many that blocked access to the radio stations which were happily broadcasting away.

An interview with the Mayor of Oxford had sparked a lot of interest from new listeners who depended on the news site to gain access to the internet radio stations. Simply put, with Six Rivers News off-line, they could not click the radio link.

The general manager of Six Rivers News says, “We are very sorry that people could not hear the station during that program yesterday.” Bill Martin added, “We planned our radio servers to be independent from the website servers to ensure access if ever one failed. The website is not the only way to listen to radio on our network.”

The three stations are all internet based. No number to dial to a transmitter. Instead you can listen anywhere you have internet service.

There are a number of ways to listen:

  1. go to www.sixrivers.ca — click the radio tab on the menu and click your preference from the three music genres
  2. download the app for your smartphone or tablet
  3. Go direct to All Hit Radio — https://usa10.fastcast4u.com/sixrivers
  4. Go direct to Country Radio — https://usa10.fastcast4u.com/rgpfuiey
  5. Go direct to Hope Centre Christian Radio — https://usa10.fastcast4u.com/atmserko

You may want to click your preferred station right now then bookmark it or add it to your favourites for easy access in future.

The Morning Talk program is live on the entire network each weekday morning from 9 to 11 am, then we switch back to the separate music styles for the rest of the day on each station.

You can also listen to earlier Morning Talk programs through our archive of special programs. The collection includes programs with guests so that listeners could listen to programs they missed or listen again to interviews of interest.

With regular guests like Premier Tim Houston, Dr. Stephen Ellis MP, Minister Tory Rushton, and Mayor Murray Scott, the program provides a valuable resource for the community. There are also numerous special guests of historical or social interest.

Select any program from the archive at https://vimeo.com/showcase/9635991.

Six Rivers News is owned and operated by the not-for-profit Six Rivers Hope Centre Ministries. There are no employees, only volunteers.
