Angry Audio Smooths the Modern Air Waves

An international agreement was struck this week between two highly unlikely partners — a U.S.corporation and a Nova Scotia not-for-profit.

Angry Audio LLC of Franklin, Tennessee has partnered with Six Rivers Hope Centre Ministries of Pugwash, NS to further develop community radio stations, professional podcasting, and modern outreach for community organizations and houses of worship.

Angry Audio is a solutions company headed by Michael “Catfish” Dosch, an engineering type who has excelled in a 25 year career designing and building studio products — mostly mixing consoles — for the big guys.

Dosch is always tinkering, always listening for better sound, not to mention, looking for a better way to achieve it.

His new partner in Atlantic Canada is Bill Martin, another tinkerer from radio but one who works in the studio where the little nagging problems are often found.

Martin founded Six Rivers News and Radio, a community based, online service that has grown over seven years to fill an ever-widening gap in local journalism, especially in remote or underserved areas.

Martin says, “Too many people see local news as the impossible hunt.” Martin sees it as the golden opportunity. He says, “While it is true we cannot compete with the big radio networks and their city newsrooms, the fact is, they cannot compete with us on our village streets and small town meetings. Not only that, rural communities are full of story tellers and they are your friends and neighbours.

Six Rivers Radio is proving it with a modified talk show that features newsmakers and leaders from local mayors to the Premier of Nova Scotia dropping in — virtually — for regular visits.

The internet radio station started on a shoestring. There were a lot of dongles and adaptors, and duct tape and bubblegum were likely involved somewhere. But the partnership with Angry Audio will provide the highest quality solutions to allow local broadcasters and podcasters to focus on content while overcoming the tech as the right gear will take care of the nagging issues with sound.

High on the list is the just released Rave Console, a mini version of what professional broadcasters have come to expect in a big, multi-channel board but without the big price, the installation, and the professional maintenance.

Angry Audio slays the problems with smaller, lighter, and much easier to use solutions, often referred to as “Gizmos” and “Gadgets”, not-to-mention the much loved studio wiring solution, “StudioHub” which puts an end to poor connections and a tangle of wires.

The new partnership will serve Atlantic Canada exclusively, beginning January 9th.

The photo shows the new Rave Console, machined and anodised aluminum, an entire mini studio control system with the punch of the old fashioned big boards.

In the Radio business, the end of the broadcast day was once known as “signing off.”  In this new age of 24/7/365 entertainment and infotainment, the signal doesn’t die — but change is inevitable.
