Hurricane Fiona "Impact Likely" on Saturday

Nova Scotia has been shy of rain this season leading to concerns of water shortages and dangerous fire conditions.

With rain forecast for seven of the next eight days, capped by Environment Canada’s statement “impact likely” from hurricane Fiona, the water shortage now seems unlikely.

Fiona is currently a category 3 hurricane churning its way northward in the Atlantic. It is a very wide low pressure zone —about 800 km in what is called the “cone of uncertainty.”

The current predictive model suggests the centre of the cone is headed for eastern Cape Breton, impacting Nova Scotia and later, Newfoundland as a powerful tropical storm.

Environment Canada will issue updates every six hours beginning tomorrow.

Listen to Morning Talk on Six Rivers Radio for details from 9:00 to 11:00 each morning. If the storm leads to emergency concerns, Six Rivers Radio will stay on air with on-going updates and bulletins.

I will mourn the death of the printed Chronicle Herald (mists of time-2022) for some time. Oh, I know it is not dead yet, but suspect its days are numbered.
