Springhill Responds to Suspicious Fire

Police are investigating yet another suspicious fire in Cumberland County.

Springhill Volunteer Fire Department and the RCMP responded to a fire call, about 6:15 yesterday evening, at an abandoned house on Rodney Road in Leamington.

Firefighters put out the blaze, however the house suffered significant damage.

The RCMP has secured the scene as they await assistance from the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal's Office.

This marks the eighth suspicious fire in the Collingwood/River Phillip/Springhill area in the last number of weeks. The investigations related to each fire remain ongoing.

Police investigators are again asking the public to report any information that may help with the investigation.

Anyone with information on these incidents are asked to contact the Cumberland County District RCMP at 902-597-3779. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca, or use the P3 Tips App.

I will mourn the death of the printed Chronicle Herald (mists of time-2022) for some time. Oh, I know it is not dead yet, but suspect its days are numbered.
