Amherst Emergency Service Re-opens Quickly
Emergency services are open again at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre (CRHHC) in Amherst as officials juggle services and space following flooding early this morning.
The Emergency department was closed, while ambulances were diverted elsewhere and officials assessed the damage.
However, the facility has re-opened at a temporary location in reduced space.
Needless to say, the emergency in the emergency department has had a domino effect within the facility.
Ambulatory clinics are being evaluated on a case by case basis and some clinics may be moved to alternative spaces. If any appointments need to be cancelled, patients will be contact directly.
Patients needing emergency care are asked to go to the hospital’s main entrance as the emergency department entrance is closed.
Pregnant patients who believe they are in labour will be assessed at the Women and Children's unit.
