The recent, unusual power outage that hit the area from Pugwash to Wallace was not just an inconvenience. The inconsistency of the power supply and its impact as power suddenly surged back to life took a toll in the community.

People are still buzzing about the unusual power failure that started Sunday evening. To use the word unusual is quite appropriate given the cause, the reach and the effect.

The Pugwash Fire Department has finally confessed their members have been working while naked. Perhaps that explains why you seldom see Pugwash firefighters at community social events.

As pleasant as it is to have warm, dry weather, this is also grass fire season. The Springhill Fire Department faced four calls in the week, and the Pugwash Department responded to another yesterday afternoon.

Weather and ground conditions made for a perfect opening day at Northumberland Links today. One of the earliest players on the course described  it as "surprisingly dry."

The mild winter and early spring are providing a big boost to this year's golf season. The Northumberland Links will open tomorrow, almost a month earlier than last season.

A couple of loud blasts, followed by a whole series in rapid fire, caused more than a little concern in Pugwash this afternoon. The first explosion happened a little after 3:00 o'clock and it was loud enough to draw people outside in search of the source.

The Pugwash Greenhouse and Florist Shop is hard at work preparing their new digs in hopes of opening for Mothers' Day. 

Train, train, train, then train some more. In fact, training never ends for committed firefighters, and that is especially true for volunteers.

Work on the Pugwash Water Supply will be quite visible this year, but the water is still almost two years away.
