Bill Casey Responds to Mosque Attack
The Member of Parliament for Cumberland/Colchester says he is deeply saddened and dismayed by the attack on a mosque in Quebec City Sunday night.
Bill Casey says, "This hate crime—this act of terrorism—does not reflect the Canada I know and want for our children and grandchildren. To commit this act in a place of worship shocks the conscience of every right-thinking person." The MP suggests this is to be condemned in the strongest terms, and the perpetrators brought to justice.
Casey says, "I am privileged to to represent Muslim Canadians who live in my riding." He added, "I work every day with Muslim Canadians—constituents, refugees, MPs, staffers, Ministers and many others. They are among the hardest working and most peace-loving Canadians I know. They enrich us with their generous hospitality and vibrant culture."
Casey says international events have stirred strong emotions, but our country must remain above the hatred. He said, "Canada must remain a standard-bearer of peace and tolerance. Canada will not be dragged down by hate and fear. We will stick to our principles, and stick together, and be the example that the world needs."
