Taylor Millet and Jonah MacIntyre responded to calls for help where they found a woman struggling to get out of the Black River. Susan Atkinson had fallen through the ice, just before noon on January 9th, while she was attempting to rescue her Golden Retriever from the same fate. The two boys used a rope from a nearby neighbour to pull the dog and her owner to safety. Millett, aged 11, and MacIntyre, aged 13, were recognized for their bravery in a brief ceremony at the Town Hall.
