Candidate Says Liberal Party Pushed Her Out
A very damning report from Halifax says a young, female candidate in Dartmouth was bullied into resigning just hours after the provincial election was called.
Robyn Ingraham was nominated as the Liberal candidate in Dartmouth South. She stunned the political world by announcing her resignation from the race on the same day the election was called. Ingraham cited stress and concerns for her mental health.
However, new revelations came out that suggest it was a deliberate move by powers within the Liberal Party who did not want her on the ticket.
Ingraham admitted that she has posted intimate photos online to show her body art, a fact she declared to the Liberal Party in the nomination process.
The President of the PC Women’s Caucus, Nicole Mosher, says, “Not only was Ms. Ingraham forced out as a candidate, she was also told to lie to the public about the true reason for her departure.”
Mosher says, “Thousands of Nova Scotians suffer in silence from mental health challenges. The fact that Iain Rankin and his advisors thought it was convenient to blame Ms. Ingraham’s departure on her past mental health challenges is not only a flagrant lie, it also trivializes the very real pain that Nova Scotians with mental illnesses face every single day.”
Mosher added, “While I may disagree with Ms. Ingraham on political issues, I stand in solidarity with her as fellow women in politics when it comes to blatant acts of sexism.”
