Candidates Ready to Rumble in Wentworth
The two candidates for Mayor of Cumberland will face-off tonight in a campaign debate at the Wentworth Recreation Centre.
Like a heavy-weight boxing championship, the bout will have an undercard with two local combatants vying for
the new District Four seat. Barb Palmer, the sitting council member, is being challenged by the area’s former councillor Kathy Redmond.
It is a new district, greatly expanded to include Wallace and Malagash in the the reconfiguration of the county from 13 electoral districts down to eight.
The councillors debate will open at 6:00 o’clock.
That sets the stage for the main event between Jason Blanch (left) and Murray Scott (right) who are seeking election as the first ever Mayor of Cumberland County. The two are veterans of federal and provincial campaigns.
They will go head-to-head, answering questions from the community beginning at 7:00 o’clock.
