Car Flips on its Side in Icy Drive
Pugwash Fire Department (PFD) responded to a single vehicle crash (MVA) near Wallace Bay this morning, at the height of icy driving conditions.
A car, with three occupants, was travelling west from Wallace toward Pugwash. As it approached the intersection with Highway 368, the driver noticed a highway plough at the stop sign and applied the brakes. The car went out of control on the icy road, veered into the ditch and hit a pole. The vehicle ended up on its side, back on the highway.
Fire, ambulance, and police were summoned. When firefighters arrived, the three occupants were out of the car and appeared to have avoided serious injury.
The PFD secured the scene and called for a salt truck to deal with the icy road conditions at the intersection.
The passengers were bumped and bruised, while the car sustained extensive damage.
