Community Conversation Set for NSCC Amherst
Engage Nova Scotia will soon be in Amherst as part of a ten campus tour for Nova Scotia’s Community Colleges.
Described as “community conversations” Engage wants to hear from the public on improving quality of life.
It is what the provincial organization calls “sustainable development goals” (SDGs).
The SDG Program Director says, “All of us are advancing the Sustainable Development Goals in one way or another, whether we use that language and lens to describe our work or not.” Blair Crawford added, “These conversations share local efforts, stories, and perspectives to build momentum and inspire new action.”
The Cumberland event will be held at the Amherst Campus on Monday, January 30th from 4 to 6 pm. The local speakers will be nominated by their neighbours, peers, and colleagues.
Speakers at the kick-off event in Dartmouth shared that personal and community wellbeing are inseparable; that the fuel we need to power our efforts to improve the quality of life of our communities comes from connection, taking time for ourselves, and knowing that we are not alone.
A panel conversation with community members is at the heart of each event. Attendees can also connect with speakers, the Engage team, and fellow community members, learn more about the SDGs and themes from local wellbeing data, and interact with tools created to harness that data for positive change.
All are welcome to your local or closest event. Click HERE for more info or to RSVP.
