Concerns Rise with Runaway Omicron Mutant
COVID numbers, released yesterday, were a cold reminder in the midst of New Year celebrations.
Nova Scotia was hit with nearly 19 hundred new cases of COVID-19. That includes 709 from New Year’s eve, and another 1,184 on New Year’s day.
Most of the cases (1,288) are in the Central Health Zone. Our Norther Zone has 171 new cases over the two days.
Premier Tim Houston and Dr. Robert Strang will provide an update by videoconference today at 2 pm.
They have already delayed the reopening of schools by extending the Christmas break by four extra days.
With a thousand plus cases on New Year’s day, they may be considering new or more stringent conditions to get a handle on the Omicron virus.
