County Leaders Seek to Gather Councils

The Mayor of Oxford will meet next week with her counterpart from Amherst, and the Warden of Cumberland County Council. Trish Stewart made the announcement tonight at the Oxford Town Council meeting.

She advised the councillors that her meeting was a prelude to a larger gathering in January when all the councils will meet.

The meeting of leaders next week will set the groundwork for the joint council session.

An earlier effort to bring the councils together failed, but the makeup of the three councils has changed a great deal since the October municipal elections, and there is a new mood toward greater cooperation in the county.
