Couple Charged in Late Night Crime Spree
A man and woman were arrested following a car stealing spree across Port Philip, Wentworth, and Wallace Ridge.
Cumberland RCMP followed a trail of three abandoned vehicles in the wee hours of the morning on January 16th.
It started about 3 am, when a 67 year-old man was punched, robbed, and had his Mazda CX-9 stolen. The man knew his assailant.
The car was abandoned a short while later when it ran out of gas.
He then joined forces with a woman and together they stole a GMC Sierra from a driveway in Wentworth.
After crashing that vehicle, the pair stole a Ford Transit van from a Wallace Ridge driveway. They crashed the third vehicle.
They were given a ride to a home on Lake Road in Wentworth where they were arrested the following day.
Brandon Polley, age 26, of Port Philip was charged with:
- breaking and entering
- robbery
- assault
- two counts of theft of a motor vehicle
- two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and
- two for possession under $5,000
He was held in jail and will appear in Amherst Court this morning.
The 20 year-old woman from Wentworth was not identified.
She was charged with:
- possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (two counts)
- two counts of theft of a motor vehicle
She was released and will appear in court in Amherst on March 11th.
