COVID is Raging Beyond Atlantic Canada
The battle against the COVID virus has taken a new twist as health officials in Britain confirm a new variation of the virus, one that spreads more quickly.
Parts of Europe have already moved to ban all flights from the U.K and Canada has followed suit with a flight ban that begins today.
The picture is far from rosy here at home. While PEI reported one new case yesterday, Nova Scotia had two, New Brunswick five and Newfoundland 8.
That’s sixteen in all of Atlantic Canada, an insignificant number compared to more than two thousand new cases in neighbouring Quebec and over 26 hundred cases for three days in a row in Ontario.
The population of La Belle Province is 8.18 million, roughly 3.5 times the Atlantic four, yet Quebec’s infection rate is running over 262 times higher.
Sadly, all the provinces west of us have run away numbers with hospitals nearly full and hospital workers at the point of exhaustion.
It is a truly bleak picture as we enter Christmas week.
