Deer Season Opens This Friday
Deer hunting season opens this Friday in Nova Scotia, and continues to Saturday, December 2.
"Thousands of people across the province enjoy the traditional activity of deer hunting in the fall," said Margaret Miller, Minister of Natural Resources. "Hunters and hikers are reminded to stay safe and wear orange when in the woods at this time of year."
Hunters are also required to carry a compass and waterproof matches. Anyone going into the woods should carry a map or GPS unit, a first-aid kit, a communications device, and tell someone when and where they will be in the woods.
Hunting is not allowed on Sundays with the exception of October 29 and November 5.
Hunting regulation booklets are available at hunting-licence vendor locations and Department of Natural Resources offices. The regulations and safety advice are also available at https://novascotia.ca/natr/hunt/.
