Federal Candidates to Debate in Wentworth
What has been a rather quiet federal election so far may begin to heat-up next week as the Cumberland-Colchester candidates meet face-to-face in Wentworth.
An all-candidates debate will be hosted at the Wentworth Recreation Centre on Wednesday.
The candidates will answer questions before a live audience. The debate will be moderated by Bill Martin and broadcast by Six Rivers Radio.
Each candidate was asked to submit two questions, one of which will be answered by each of the opponents.
People from the audience will also have an opportunity to pose a question.
This is a debate to provide information to voters. It is not a rally and attempts by candidates or parties to turn it into a cheerleading event will not be allowed.
A similar event during the last federal election spiraled out of control when planted supporters shouted down opponents during the debate.
Disruptors will be removed from the hall and if a candidate cannot control his/her supporters, that candidate would be asked to leave the event.
The debate will take place Wednesday, October 9th at 7 pm at the Wentworth Community Centre.
