Four Man By-Election, It’s Official
Nominations for the Cumberland South by-election closed at 2:00 o’clock today. There are four candidates officially nominated to be on the ballot.
Larry Duchesne will represent the NDP, Scott Lockhart the Liberal Party, Bruce McCulloch the Green Party, and Tory Rushton will carry the Progressive Conservative banner.
While Bill Archer of the Atlantica Party had earlier declared his intention to run, he did not file nomination papers.
All four candidates have been invited to participate in a candidates debate on Tuesday, June 12th in Wentworth. The event will be held at the Wentworth Community Centre under the sponsorship of the Wentworth Firemen’s Recreation Association.
The returning office for this by-election is at the Royal Canadian Legion in Springhill. It is open 9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, and to 8pm on Thursday June 14th and Friday June 15th.
Early voting is possible, at the returning office, Monday through Saturday up to election day on June 19th.
The advance poll at St. George’s Anglican Hall in Parrsboro is open Saturday June 9th to Saturday June 16th 9am to 6pm, and to to 8pm on Thursday June 14th and Friday June 15th.
Community polls at Brookdale Community Hall and Wentworth Recreation Centre, are open Friday June 15th from 9am to 8pm and Saturday June 16th from 9am to 6pm.
Eligible electors may vote at any early voting opportunity in the electoral district. On election day, voters must go to an assigned poll location.
