Great Garbage Challenge in Pugwash
The Great Garbage Challenge is set for launch on Saturday in Pugwash. Spearheaded by Pugwash Communities in Bloom, the Challenge calls on all residents to a one day, spring clean-up blitz.
Volunteers will gather at 9 am in the Chesnutt Cafe to be outfitted with litter bags and grippers. From there, they will fan out across the village to pick up litter and unsightly refuse.
It is a community exercise with corporate support and volunteers of all ages and walks of life.
A secondary program will reach farther around the community. The Adopt a Road program gives volunteers a section of road to clean, but not on a fixed date, but rather at the convenience of the volunteer. Adopted roads may extend beyond the village boundaries, for example, along the Gulf Shore, Highway 6, or Crawley Road. Click HERE for a map and details.
Thirteen volunteers have already stepped forward to help.
