Head On Collision in West Pugwash
Emergency response came from two fire departments, two ambulances, and a number of RCMP as two vehicles collided, head on, in West Pugwash this afternoon.
The accident occurred on a straight stretch of Highway 6 just outside Port Phillip about 3:00 pm. Visibility was clear and the pavement dry, when a full-size pickup and a mid-size car collided.
The car was extensively damaged along the driver's side, while the truck faced heavy front end damage and landed in the ditch.
The lone occupant of the car, a female, was transported to hospital in Amherst with undetermined injuries.There were two males in the truck, and the driver was taken to hospital for observation.
Fire and rescue crews from Pugwash were paged to the scene along with back-up from the Oxford Fire Department. EHS ambulances also responded from the two communities.
Traffic was halted for over an hour and then guided through the scene in one lane. The highway was opened again at 5:00 pm.
