Health Board Says Sugar is Killing Us
The next meeting of the Pugwash & Area Community Health Board will hear a special presentation by Dr. David Strum.
Sugar consumption has increased in developed countries over the past 100 years; coinciding with an epidemic in obesity, heart disease, cancer, and dementia.
Dr. Strum will talk about Bad Health, Bad Food, and Sugar: the Metabolic Syndrome.
All of us eventually become what we eat and fructose is toxic. Hepatic metabolism of fructose is the proximate cause of metabolic syndrome.
Metabolic syndrome is ubiquitous and destroying the quality of lives and reducing lifespans in the elderly.
Metabolic syndrome is the most important syndrome that consumes our health care budget in Nova Scotia. Can you be recruited to help in the battle against bad food?
The meeting will be held April 5th from 6-8 pm at the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital Board Room.
The public is always invited to attend.
