High Marks for Outside-the-Box Health Delivery
Nova Scotia Health is pleased with its initial foray into alternate methods of delivering healthcare—mobile and over the phone.
Mobile Primary Care Clinics and VirtualCareNS were launched in September and close to 1600 patients have attended these clinics, with a patient satisfaction rating of 4.7 out of 5.
Over the course of three months, the department received comments indicating that the “service was very helpful”, “there was an excellent flow”, and that the “facilities, speed and availably were amazing.”
With that success, more clinics are planned for locations throughout the province in the new year. Details can be found at https://www.nshealth.ca/mobileprimarycare.
Nova Scotia Health is also expanding virtual appointments through VirtualCareNS. This will provide another way for patients to access care where they are.
Appointments will now be available on December 31 from 9 am to 1 pm, January 4 and 11 until 7 pm, and January 7, 8, 14, 15 from 9 am to 5 pm.
All Nova Scotians on the Need a Family Practice Registry have access to VirtualCareNS.
Nearly 39,000 people made a virtual care visit, and there can be over 300 visits per day. The average satisfaction rating was 4.8 out of 5.
Patients indicated it was “convenient and easy to use,” and they felt “listened to and that solutions were given.
