Hospital Emergency Closed in Amherst
The emergency department at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre (CRHHC) in Amherst has been temporarily closed due to flooding.
Emergency Health Services (EHS) is diverting ambulances to other facilities and those patients awaiting or receiving emergency care at the CRHHC have been temporarily relocated to the ambulatory care department.
Pregnant patients who believe they are in labour will be assessed at the Women and Children's unit and are asked to come to the main entrance instead of the emergency department.
The cause and extent of damage is still being assessed and a timetable for repairs, when emergency services will be able to resume, and potential impacts on other services, such as ambulatory care appointments, needs to be determined.
