How Do You Feel About Electricity in NS
The Clean Electricity Solutions Task Force wants to hear from Nova Scotians concerned about the future of electricity in the province.
Alison Scott, chair of the Task Force, said the public call for submissions will support the work of the Task Force, which is already underway.
Scott says, “The Task Force has reviewed a great deal of helpful information and will continue to do so in the weeks and months ahead. We wanted to make sure that any Nova Scotian who wished to participate had ample opportunity to provide their ideas and advice to this process.”
More than 20 meetings have been held this summer with major customers of Nova Scotia Power, representatives of regular customers, and environmental organizations.
Earlier research and assessment sessions included discussions with Nova Scotia Power, the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, and the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and Renewables.
The Task Force also engaged Stantec to provide up to date technical expertise in examining the province’s electricity infrastructure.
Created in April 2023 by the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and Renewables, the Task Force was assigned to examine Nova Scotia’s electricity infrastructure in terms of reliability, capacity and storage, interconnections with essential services such as telecommunications, and the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board as it relates to electricity, transmission, and rates.
The final report is due to the provincial government no later than the end of January 2024.
