Is Pugwash Ready for Judgement Day?
Judges from Communities in Bloom Canada will be in Pugwash in two weeks to evaluate the village in a national competition.
It is the final leg in the 28th edition of the Class of Champions—small category—as the community is judged against the Town of Kinistino, Saskatchewan.
The judges, Lorna McIlroy from Grande Prairie AB, and Linda Tomlinson from Kelowna BC, will be evaluating the Village of Pugwash from July 24 to 26.
Communities in Bloom is a Canadian not-for-profit, volunteer organization. It has a multi-tiered competitive evaluation process to foster community strength, involvement, and continuous improvement.
The judges will consider the community’s efforts in nurturing environmental sustainability, enhancements of green spaces, and heritage conservation in cultural and natural environments, including residential, commercial, and institutional spaces.
The national and international results will be announced in Victoria, British Columbia in late October during the National Symposium on Parks & Grounds, and the National & International Awards celebrating "Year of the Garden”.
It will be the first in-person symposium since 2019 when live judging and events were sidelined by COVID regulations.
