Long Lineup Waiting to Get Into Nova Scotia
The RCMP report traffic is backed up on the Trans Canada Highway from the Nova Scotia border for several kilometres into New Brunswick.
It is a bitter sweet situation for the MLA for Cumberland North. Elizabeth Smith McCrossin tweeted, “I guess it’s OK to block a (sic) Trans Canada Highway if you are @IainTRankin.” The MLA added, “His desire for power and control is beyond comprehension.”
The Premier was critical of Smith-McCrossin for leading a blockade of the highway on June 22nd and 23rd.
Hinting the tables are now turned, she suggests the Premier is responsible for the long lineup of vehicles headed into Nova Scotia.
While the border is officially open to traffic from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia is still stopping drivers to identify their origin and check passengers for their vaccination status.
Meanwhile westbound traffic out of the province is flowing freely and not detained at all by New Brunswick authorities.
Calling the situation reckless and unsafe, Smith-McCrossin says it makes no sense and wants the Premier to work with other Maritime provinces on a solution. She says Rankin should “Stop using the NS NB Border for his games.”
