Miners Fall Short of League Leaders

The Springhill Coal Miners had their hands full on the weekend as they hosted the undefeated Elsipogtog Hawks in senior hockey play in Springhill on Saturday.

Rene George got things started for the homeside just a minute into the game, but the powerful Hawks responded and took a 4-2 lead in the first intermission and never looked back.

The Hawks are 13 and 0 for the season, while the Miners dropped back to third place with a 3 and 7 record.

Rene George continues to shine in the scoring department netting two goals and adding a pair of assists on the night. He's third in the scoring race with 13 goals and 8 helpers in only eight games compared to the two players ahead of hime who have played a dozen.
