Modified Awards Night for Pugwash Firefighters
Pugwash Fire Department issued their annual awards last night and thanks to COVID it was a very subdued event.
There was no traditional Christmas banquet, no special guests, no spouses or friends … just the firefighters themselves at a modified monthly meeting.
Chief Andy Yarrow thanked the members for their dedicated service in a very difficult year. Much of their activity and training had to be modified. because of COVID regulations, while providing fire service often meant putting aside personal coronavirus safety to get the job done.
Mark Robinson was named the department’s “Firefighter of the Year” for his extra effort both in the service and in the community.
The chief also used the occasion to present Corey Martin with his Level 1 firefighter certification. Martin was one of the few to complete the year long county training program. Martin received his ‘yellow helmet’ signifying his accomplishment and denoting his status as a frontline firefighter.
