Mounties Team to Get Their Speeding Man
Have you ever heard of the long arm of the law? Apparently it is long enough to stretch from Oxford to Charlottetown.
It started December 3rd at 2:40 pm when Cumberland RCMP stopped a white Dodge Charger on the 104 at Oxford Junction. It was clocked at 186 kph in the 110 zone.
After being identified, the driver fled the scene, headed west.
Police notified their counterparts in New Brunswick and PEI.
About 40 minutes later, police in New Brunswick received complaints about a speeding car that fit the description. The RCMP were unable to locate the offender.
At 4:00 pm, police in PEI employed a high-risk manoeuvre to bring the pursuit to an end on Capital Drive in Charlottetown.
The driver, a 25-year old man from Charlottetown was arrested and charged with stunting and fleeing from police.
His vehicle was towed and his licence was suspended. He was later released and will appear in Amherst Court on February 12th, 2024.
In Nova Scotia, stunting carries a fine of $2,422.50 for first time offenders and results in an immediate 7-day driver's license suspension.
