Staff Reporter / Tuesday, January 17, 2023 / Categories: News New Oxford Fire Chief Takes Oath Tonight Bruce Rushton will have to wait one more day to be sworn in as Chief of the Oxford Fire Department. Oxford Town Council, which normally meets on Monday, has bumped its regular monthly meeting to tonight. Rushton was elected late in December and this will be the first occasion for the Mayor and Council to perform the official Oath of Office ceremony. The Town will also try again to generate some interest in filling a vacant seat on the council. Tonight’s meeting is expected to set a date for a by-election to replace Wade Adshade who resigned late last year. Mayor Greg Henley recommended the town cut back to four councillors from six. However, council continues to believe that six is the right number to ensure a diversity of opinion in town matters. Add your comments below.
