New Virus Cases and New Symptoms to Screen
LIVE PRESS CONFERENCE AT 3 PM ON SIX RIVERS RADIO
Two new cases of coronavirus bring the province’s total to 1, 048 confirmations since the outbreak. The new infections were found among 427 tests conducted at the QEII Health Science’s Centre in Halifax.
There was no word on where the new cases were located. In recent days, with a single new positive each day over three days, it was revealed that at least two were at the Northwood long-term care facility in Halifax. It appears the outbreak has been contained outside of the Halifax region.
The province has added additional symptoms to the COVID screening list. The chief medical officer says, “This expanded symptom list is being adopted by all provinces and territories and is based on our growing knowledge of how COVID-19 can present.” Dr. Robert Strang added, “As we move out of the first pandemic wave, it remains important to test anyone who has symptoms that could be due to COVID-19.”
Beginning today, additions to the screening list include:
- shortness of breath
- muscle aches
- sneezing
- hoarse voice
- diarrhea
- unusual fatigue
- loss of sense of smell or taste
- red, purple or blueish lesions on the feet, toes or fingers without clear cause
Along with the original five symptoms: fever (i.e. chills, sweats); cough or worsening of a previous cough; sore throat; nasal congestion/runny nose; or headache, if you have any one of the above symptoms, visit https://811.novascotia.ca to determine if you should call 811 for further assessment.
Premier Stephen McNeil and Dr. Robert Strang will hold another press conference this afternoon at 3:00 o’clock. It will be broadcast live on Six Rivers Radio. Click HERE to listen.
