Nova Scotia Climbing to One Thousand Infections
Nova Scotia reached the 900 mark in COVID-19 cases. Twenty-seven new positive tests were reported today from a batch of 645 tests completed yesterday at the QEII microbiology lab.
The chief medical officer of health says, “Aggressive and accessible testing remains a critical part of Nova Scotia's fight against COVID-19. We need to identify and treat as many cases as we can.” Dr. Robert Strang added, “If you have two of these symptoms — fever, new or worsening cough, sore throat, runny nose or headache — please visit the 811 website (https://811.novascotia.ca). If you do not have internet access then please call 811.”
Nova Scotia has tested 27,131 people to date.
Premier Stephen McNeil says, “We will get through this extraordinarily difficult time by pulling together and supporting each another. Please continue to reach out to your loved ones, be there for those who are grieving or having a difficult time and know that we will come through this.”
There are still ten licensed long-term care homes and unlicensed seniors' facilities in Nova Scotia with cases of COVID-19. Together they include 198 residents and 95 staff.
Twelve people are under hospital care, three of those in ICU. Five-hundred and nine people have recovered.
