Nova Scotia Still Under COVID Attack
The weekend tally of new COVID cases seems to provide a bit of a jolt, but today’s count of fifty-seven was accompanied by the announcement of another death.
A man in his 70s, from the Western Health Zone, is the 99th death directly related to COVID since the pandemic reached the province about nineteen months ago.
The 57 new cases is offset by 63 recoveries, leaving Nova Scotia with 152 active cases of COVID-19. Of those, eleven people are in hospital, including two in ICU.
Seventeen of the new cases were reported in Northern Zone which includes Cumberland, along with Colchester, Pictou, Antigonish, and East Hants.
"It is never easy to hear that a Nova Scotian has passed away as a result of COVID-19," said Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia's Chief Medical Officer of Health. "Getting vaccinated will not only protect you but also your loved ones and your community.”
As of yesterday, 1,562,774 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered. Of those, 755,858 Nova Scotians have received their second dose and more recently, 1,037 eligible Nova Scotians have received a third dose.
