NS Changes Vaccine Plan Despite Omicron
Nova Scotia came out of the New Year’s weekend with 22 hundred new cases of COVID-19, not counting the quick take-home tests, and a new approach to vaccines.
Our zone, the Northern Health Zone, recorded 104 cases out of a thousand and twenty reported yesterday.
There are 36 people in hospital across the province, with four of those in ICU. Thirty-one of the 36 cases have been identified with the Omicron variant of the virus.
All this against a backdrop of people scrambling or lining-up to get the vaccine.
A long line stood outside, in the cold, for a drop-in clinic at the Pugwash Fire Hall last week. Meanwhile, the pharmacy in Pugwash has completed its program for vaccinations by appointment.
O’Brien’s PharmaChoice has dispensed its entire allotment of vaccine. However, the drug store remains on the province’s appointment booking site even though no new times will be opened.
The booking site has become nearly overwhelmed as online visitors faced a two hour wait yesterday to get access to the site, only to find a few appointments still open.
