NS COVID Response Seems to Be Working
Nova Scotia reported six new cases of COVID-19 yesterday following 4,404 tests at provincial labs.
The numbers compare favourably with other western provinces continuing to present much higher numbers. Ontario reported 990 new cases, along with six deaths yesterday.
Some point to the big difference in population to suggest Nova Scotians should not take comfort in the numbers, but population is not the key.
Ontario tested 57,800 people yesterday in finding its 990 cases. That’s one in nearly 58 showing positive. Nova Scotia’s six cases were found in 4,404 tests — one in every 734 tests.
Premier Iain Rankin says, "These numbers reinforce the importance of being tested and continuing adherence to public health guidelines."
As of today, Nova Scotia has 29 active cases of COVID-19.
There should be no comfort taken from any tests that reveal even one positive case, but the percentage does show the province is perhaps doing something right.
