NS Power Offers Scholarships
Nova Scotia Power (NSP) is now accepting applications for its 2018 scholarship program, which is offered annually to students seeking higher education in a variety of educational programs across the province.
“We are proud to provide opportunities today for young Nova Scotians to continue their learning in hopes to help create a stronger future in Nova Scotia for our youth,” said Sara Phinney, Vice President, Human Resources at Nova Scotia Power. “We really believe in doing what we can to support and empower our youth in the many communities where we live and work.”
NSP scholarships are available each year to qualifying students enrolled in trades and degree programs. The specific categories include Mi’kmaq, Environment, Centennial, Trades, Employment Equity, and awards for Employees’ children.
“This scholarship has helped me succeed in reaching my goals, and has helped me through my independent living,” said Salena Sylvester, the 2017 recipient of the Mi’kmaq scholarship.
Scholarships are awarded based on each student’s academic achievement, community involvement, involvement in extracurricular activities and personal attributes.
Last year, 40 scholarships were awarded totalling more than $120,000.
