Staff Reporter / Thursday, June 20, 2019 / Categories: News Nuisance Bears Get Bolder in Pugwash A black bear was sighted last night roaming the streets of Pugwash. It was first seen along the New Pugwash Road where it toured a few homes then wandered down Church Street. Bear sightings have become common in the village and surrounding areas. The bears have been terrorizing green bins and bird feeders in search of food. Some people report multiple sightings with cubs climbing trees while the mother bear keeps watch at a distance. Bears roaming around the Sunset Community caused officials to post warning signs. Lands and Forestry officials remind us that bears are more than a nuisance and people must exercise extreme caution in any confrontation. The photo is from our archives showing a bear near Pugwash.
