Oxford Boil Water Advisory Still in Effect
Residents of Oxford will have to continue boiling water for at least another day.
The town’s Chief Administrative Officer says, “Public Works are currently flushing lines and working to get our residuals back to a normal reading for samples.”
Linda Cloney added, “We are working very hard to get this Boil Order resolved. For now, the boil order is still in effect and we don't anticipate any updates until tomorrow morning (Wednesday).”
Due to water quality concerns and the possibility of unsafe water, consumers are advised to boil all water for at least one minute, after it reaches a rolling boil, before drinking, preparing infant formulas, preparing juices and ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking, dental hygiene, or any other activity requiring human consumption.
The boil water warning was issued early Monday morning after Public Works employees found issues with the system’s chlorine injectors.
Water samples submitted this morning to the Department of Environment, were not acceptable.
Residents must follow the boil water advisory until the all clear is given by the Department of Environment.
