The generator is mobile and on loan from the Regional Emergency Measures Organization (REMO). The Chief of the department says the installation will allow the firehall to serve as a second emergency centre in the event of a major crisis. The Oxford and Area Lions Club is already designated as the town’s emergency shelter, but Chief Tory Rushton says the club can't handle all the residents at one time. Town council will seek funding from REMO.
