Oxford Monitors Little Change in Sinkhole
Officials in Oxford said they would try to maintain daily updates on the situation with the sinkhole at the town’s Lions Park. Despite the long weekend, they remain true to their word.
Linda Cloney, the Public Information Officer offered a kind of good news report in today’s release.
The hole has not grown in the last 24 hours, maintaining its overall dimensions at 32.6 by 38.7 metres.
The only change prompted by minor mud slides in the corners, rounding out the appearance of the hole.
The water level is also holding steady at yesterday’s readings.
The risk to infrastructure and public safety remains unchanged. However, people continue to gather at the site and need to be vigilant when walking in the area.
The area is being monitored by video surveillance and on site security.
Emergency officials continue to monitor the area and take daily readings to record any expansion of the hole or danger to the town facilities.
