Oxford Promotes Town Clerk to CAO

Oxford has a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Linda Cloney, who has served as town clerk for the past year, was promoted by Town Council last night. 

A year ago the town dismissed their former CAO in what was termed a “cost saving measure”.  

Mayor Greg Henley says with the town’s financial picture improved, along with his confidence in Cloney’s capabilities, this move was appropriate and will improve efficiency at Town Hall.  

Under the town clerk model, Cloney would have to seek approval from Town Council on a wider variety of issues. As CAO, she can act with greater autonomy.
