Oxford Supports Trail Repairs
UPDATED
Damage to property from Hurricane Dorian was not limited to populated areas, more damage can be seen off the beaten path.
Oxford Town Council offered its support to efforts to restore parts of the trail system around the town.
A washout just east of Water Street has been cordoned off awaiting repair by the Cumberland Trails Association that maintains the trail system.
Speaking for the trail group, Greg Nix says the repair in Oxford is estimated to cost three to five thousand dollars.
The Chief Administrative Officer says council has determined that the trails are important to the community. Rachel Jones says it is an important resource that brings a lot of people to Oxford.
Jones said the trails group asked for financial help and if accepted, they feel they can leverage the rest from the greater community.
Council agreed to give up to $2,500 and hope that repair work will be completed quickly.
