Oxford to Host Gentlemen’s Hockey

Six teams will take part in a gentlemen’s hockey tournament scheduled for January 5th and 6th (Friday night and Saturday) at the Oxford Arena.

Organizer Joe Reid says funds raised from the event will go towards kids’ hockey and figure skating.

Participating teams are from Oxford, Springhill, Tatamagouche, and Truro. Each team pays a $500 entry fee.  

Additional funds will be raised with a 50/50 draw, and stick ticket sales.

Others helping to organize the tournament include Cole and Matt Wood.

Reid says this is the first effort in hosting a gentlemen’s hockey tournament and he hopes it will become an annual event.
